Joe Buchanan came to be our senior Pastor in August of 2007.  Before coming to First Baptist he served as Senior Pastor of Salem Baptist Church in Richmond, VA (2004-2007) and Open Door Baptist Church in Colliers, WV (1994-2004).  Pastor Joe served as President of the Pastors Conference for the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists in 2003-2004 and on the Nominating Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000.  He is married to Grace and they have two children, Matthew and Sara.  He earned the Master of Divinity degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and is a currently completing the Doctor of Ministry degree at the same institution.  Pastor Joe enjoys reading, spending time with his family, and harassing Cliff Easter.  His personal mission statement comes from Colossians 2:28, “Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ.”  His vision for the ministry at First Baptist is to build healthy church focused on being the representation of God’s glory in the midst of a dark world.   joe@metrofbc.com

 

Cliff Easter - Minister of Youth & Families

Cliff came to First Baptist Church from his home state of North Carolina in September of 2002.  He is a graduate of Wingate University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He and his wife Michele have been married since 1992 and have three beautiful daughters, Mackenzie, Caitlyn and Reagan.  Cliff answered God’s call to ministry while in college & began serving as a Youth Pastor in 1991.  Cliff is passionate about his relationship with God & is committed to helping parents raise students who will become mature Christian adults.  cliff@metrofbc.com

 

David Gagel - Minister of Music 

 

David has joined the FBC staff during the summer of 2008, coming from his hometown of Louisville, KY.  He is a graduate of the University of Louisville and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He and his wife, Amy, have been married since May 2005 and are the parents of Eliana, who is 3 months old.  David has served in music ministry in the local church for over 7 years.   david@metrofbc.com
